The game

A mystery under the Brazilian sun

Sunny Trails is a cozy turn-based RPG. The sun goddess Amaterasu and her sisters, Susanoo and Tsukuyomi, travel to a paradise island in southern Brazil for a grand celebration of deities from around the world, and arrive to find every guest petrified.

To solve the mystery, you'll explore hand-drawn landscapes inspired by the island of Florianópolis, meet characters from Brazilian and worldwide folklore, and face mythical creatures in quick-witted battles. Between the fighting, explore your surroundings: fish in beaches and rivers, cook nourishing meals, and collect mementos to safekeep every heartwarming moment.

What you'll do on the island

    Hear the magic

    All the characters have their own unique personality, and our aim is to support full voice acting in English, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, and Japanese. So everyone can hear their favorites!

    Take a break from all the exploring on several fishing spots around the island. Beaches, rivers and lagoons are all available for you to cast a line and relax.

The island

Brazil is home to the largest population of Japanese descent outside Japan

An estimated 2 million Japanese-Brazilians, the Nikkei, live in the country. When Amaterasu and her sisters meet the island witches, the game is joining two cultures that already live side by side.

The island itself is inspired by Florianópolis, in southern Brazil. Known as Ilha da Magia, or the Magical Island, it has famous witch tales, benzedeiras, fishing villages and a greater folklore collected by the writer Franklin Cascaes. The game also has an original soundtrack of Brazilian-infused music and an anime-like art style.

A cozy adventure with gentle, strategic turn-based battles. It's designed to welcome players who have never finished an RPG as it guides them through the solving of a magical mystery.

What languages does it support?

The demo is available in English, Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish, the first two with full voice acting as well. Our aim is to ship the full game with complete voice acting in English, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, and Japanese. Accessibility comes with it: every supported language gets subtitles, so any line can be read as well as heard.
